Julia Rymer Brucker

“As a 21-year old art student studying at a traditional painting and drawing school in Aix-en-Provence, France, I found my passion as an artist. While my instructors expected representational landscapes, still life, and figurative work, I discovered, after working en plein air, that what I really wanted to paint was not what the landscape looked like, but how it made me feel. I began my journey as an abstract painter and printmaker, unraveling my reactions to the natural world. This impulse carried me through my graduate studies at Pratt Institute and into my art career today.

My 20+ year career spans numerous exhibitions and inclusion in public and private collections throughout the United States. I hold an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute, and a BFA in Painting from the University of Denver. I am originally from and currently live in Colorado, where I developed a profound connection to the natural world.”
