“Greta McMahon uses a variety of media and techniques, including painting, collage, drawing and clay, in an attempt to integrate aspects of our somewhat polarised existence into an experience of wholeness, awareness and openness. Her art process evolves around the desire to communicate, connect and to create a powerful transmission. Making images is a way of recording and mapping the reverberation of the quiet, space and the void. Her paintings are constituted of abstract mark-‐making, colour, textures and shapes which serves as a translator and mediator for the conversation between the head and the heart.
Greta has participated in numerous group and six solo exhibitions in South Africa, Ireland and Holland. Her artworks have been included in the corporate collections of the Hollard Group, Nando’s and Spier, as well as in private collections in South Africa, the USA, the UAE, Holland, Norway, the UK and Ireland. In 2005 she was an Absa L’Atelier Art Competition finalist. She holds a BA in fine arts from the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art.”
